About me

Tara Tayyebi Fard

I grew up playing the violin, writing funny essays at school, and getting into trouble for drawing everyone fat. Although I chose to study architecture instead of art, it quickly reminded me how much I love drawing and storytelling – and how little interest I actually had in buildings.

That realisation led me to shift my focus from being a builder to being a storyteller, and gradually my career as an illustrator began to take shape. Since then, I’ve been exploring character, humour, and narrative through ink and watercolour.

These days, my practice includes writing and illustrating short stories on Tara’s Timeout and creating picture books and comics. Each project is a chance to blend playful ideas with storytelling in ways that connect with readers of all ages.
