About me

Rosalie Smith

I was born in London, and grew up opposite a forest. I rode my bike through the wood and climbed trees with my siblings.

I had piano and violin lessons, but I didn’t practice very much, I preferred watching TV. I hoarded stationery and didn’t use my felt tip pens because I wanted to keep them in perfect colour order. I always loved cutting and sticking and making things. I studied Fashion Design and worked for years as a designer.

Eventually my love of books led me to study children’s book illustration in Cambridge. Now I live in Hertfordshire with my husband and two cats. I still explore forests, but these days I do this in my 1970 VW campervan, Betty,
