I’m James Ashe , a professional illustrator creating artwork for children and young people. I’ve been drawing since I could hold a crayon, and now I work mostly in Procreate on my iPad Pro, while occasionally experimenting with traditional mediums.
Storytelling is central to my illustrations, influenced by growing up in Belfast during the 90s as part of the first generation to experience peace in post-conflict Northern Ireland. Being autistic and passionate about LGBTQI+ rights has also shaped my voice and outlook as an artist.
After graduating from Norwich University of the Arts in 2018, I returned home to Ireland to pursue illustration full-time. Since then, I’ve created work for museums, exhibitions, public spaces, magazines, and have also led workshops with children, young people, and community groups.
