Hello! I’m Heike, and I am an author-illustrator. My background is in film design and fine art and I recently graduated with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art.
Drawing in sketchbooks the weird and wonderful facets of urban life has been a strong impulse for my illustration work. The use of watercolour and experimenting with different printmaking techniques such as lithography and risography matters to me a lot in order to convey emotion movement and emotion in a direct unfiltered way.
I am passionate about dance and delving into past and distant worlds, raiding flea markets, toy and junk shops which feed into my imagination when I get stuck. I live in London with my partner, two children and their imaginary guinea pig and chicken.
